Cypress Residency vs Non-Residency

City of Cypress regulations require all leagues to maintain a player residency requirement of 55% to have access to fields and practice sites. While CYB has always met the residency requirement in previous years, our percentage has come close to the minimum requirement the last few seasons and we want to make sure our families are aware of the situation. Cypress City Council passed a measure that would allow us to meet the 55% requirement by including Residents and Non-Residents that attend a Cypress public school. This welcome change may mitigate any chance of not meeting the 55% requirements for upcoming seasons. Our registration questions ask our non-Cypress residents to indicate if they attend a Cypress public school.

In the unlikely event that our “residency” percentage drops below 55%, we will be forced to implement a “wait list” for non-residents based upon registration date. We don’t foresee this being an issue and will notify families ASAP if a wait list goes into effect.

There will be a charge of $10 for all non-residents outside of the 90630 zip code and that do not attend a Cypress public school, including Lexington.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Tryout Schedule

Tryouts will be held January 6-7,   2024  for the Pinto thru Bronco Divisions at Oak Knoll Park, weather permitting.

You will be contacted via email with your tryout date and time. Anyone wishing to Play Up or Down will need to tryout for both divisions.

Spring Training

Because of the positive feedback from our families, we will be continuing our “Spring Training” program this season. Spring Training is designed to allow our teams to incorporate the experience of playing in a game into their preseason preparation. Our Coaches will be able to evaluate players in a truly non-competitive setting to help prepare for the season. This is also the perfect time to learn how to keep score.

You may contact the Head Scorekeeper for further information
